Spreadsheets in the Classroom 
Exercise 1

I always like to Introduce software with a Sampler ExerciseJust like NeedleCraft, but in Software


For Our  Exercise in Spreadsheets we will Use

 MS Excel 

  • open a spreadsheet file
  • save our work with appropriate file names and titles
  • Exercise 1 will be a simple spreadsheet with a chart
  • Exercise 2 will be enterring and managing data about the Commonwealth Games

  • Open MS Excel from the Start Menu

  • Note the range of Menus and buttons

  • the body of the screen is made up of the cells of a spreadsheet

Save Pages

  • call the file eyecolour

  • Inside a folder called Sarah ( your name) and you have to create it.

  • Inside the My Documents Folder

Adding Column Headings

Notice that each cell has a coded name .

The word Blue is in A1

Adding Values

The values you
 are adding are raw figures

Making a Chart

Select all the cells containing the data you wish to use.

Then click on the chart button
